![]() ![]() NLE functions are different from DAW functions. There is not a means of scrolling the timeline while video is paused and the cursor remains on the same frame. The cursor always indicates the current frame and time code at its position. Would it really be so difficult to implement a "shift-scroll wheel" to pan/scroll the timeline without changing the cursor's position? For example, Audacity lets you "ctrl-scroll wheel" to zoom in/out and "shift-scroll wheel" to pan left and right. Other software does this sort of thing very naturally. ![]() Not to mention it makes me lose my focus on what I'm trying to accomplish. So now I have to go find where I was before I scrolled and reposition the cursor there.Īlternately, zooming out then placing the cursor a bit further along the timeline and then zooming back in accomplishes the task of panning the timeline but again, my cursor is in the wrong place and I have to go find my edit point again.ĭropping and deleting markers every time I want to pan adds a lot of unnecessary steps. The bottom scroll bar (assuming it's even large enough to grab - it's VERY small when zoomed in) pans the timeline but the cursor stays in place and moves along the clips. I need to be able to scroll/pan the timeline without changing the position of the cursor so I can see what's beyond it. It happens very often that I am editing a video and the cursor is on a clip near the right (or left) edge of the screen and I need to see what's beyond it in order to decide how to do my edit. It doesn't appear to have been addressed in 2020.1. ![]() There are lots of posts going back years from people asking for this feature but I can't find an actual solution. I've been searching for how to do this for months. ![]()
